In the event that you don’t need the entirety of the available SPARCS hospital discharge data, you can request specific subsets. In this case, the SPARCS program extracts specific subsets of the statewide data based on certain select criteria.
The following extraction criteria are currently available:

Claim Type
- Inpatient
- Emergency Department
- Outpatient
- Ambulatory Surgery
- Patient County of Residence
- Hospital County
- Age
- Gender
- Hospital Permanent Facility Identifier (PFI)
Please note that the SPARCS team may, at their discretion, suggest a modification to the parameters of the data subset for which you are approved. Data extractions such as this subset type support the SPARCS program policy of providing the minimum data necessary to complete the approved project.
